2008 Marion Brown graduated from Grandview High School with a GPA of 3.8. He will pursue a degree in Business Management at Colorado University at Boulder in the fall of 2008. Marion is involved in various organizations including Grandview Leadership Class, Kappa Alpha Psi Junior Ambassador Program, and Jack and Jill of America Teen Group.  During his high school career, he received the following awards; First Team All-State Academic Award in Football and Track, Honorable Mention All-State Academic Award in Football and Track, Ventures Scholar, Honor Roll Student, Math Achievement Award, 2007 Jack & Jill Beau, and 5A State Football Champion in 2007.  Marion also received a varsity letter in track and football for 3 years and lettered in academics for 2 years.  He was also part of the 4x200m relay that took first place in state this year. 

 2008 Mahad Fahich graduated from Smoky Hill High School with a GPA of 3.6. He will study at the University of Colorado at Boulder, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Mahad enjoys bowling, building plastic model airplanes, traveling, mentoring youth, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and playing sports such as basketball, roller hockey and ultimate Frisbee. He does volunteer work with groups like the Brotherhood (an African American male group to close the achievement gap at our high schools) and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (where he has given demonstrations to visitors about aerospace sciences and have directed them around the museum). Mahad aspires to be a pilot, astronaut and/or an aerospace engineer for the Air Force, NASA or companies such as Lockheed Martin Pratt and Whitney or Boeing. He hopes to inspire younger individuals to become successful in the future.

 2008 Derek James Cole graduated from East High School with a GPA of 3.4 in May of 2008. He plans to attend Colorado State University to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. Accelerated classes were apart of my curriculum. Such classes include: AP English, AP Calculus, and AP Physics. My composite score from the SAT's was a 1670. During the course of my senior year, he worked 2 jobs to support himself and his academic pursuits. James was affiliated with such clubs as: Black Student Alliance, Youth In Government, Academic Team, and Model United Nations. He received numerous awards throughout high school including the National Society of High School Scholars membership, and the Fortnightly Essay semi-finalist.

 2007 Roman Coy Ashford graduated from Bishop Machebeuf High School in May 2007.  He currently carries a GPA of 3.7.  He has been accepted to several universities and plans to attend Colorado State University in the fall of 2007.  There he will pursue a degree in engineering.  Roman has maintained high academic standards throughout his high school career and has also dedicated himself to volunteer service.  In 2006 he received the President’s Volunteer Service Award and has been active in working with other organizations such as the Rainbow House assisting young children with HIV and the Samaritan House assisting in preparing lunches for residents.  In April of 2007 he visited Slovakia as a member of the Global Challenge Summer Workshop where the group assisted in volunteer activities within Slovakia.  Roman shows great potential and the Scholarship Fund is happy to assist him reach that potential.

 2006 Jason Nathaniel Toms graduated from Aurora Central High School in May 2006 with a GPA of 3.9.  While at Aurora Central, among the many awards received and activities in which Jason participated were: recipient of the Metropolitan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award, The National Debater in Congress Award, State Debater in Public Forum Award, was the president of the National Honor Society, Speech Team Vice President, an active member of the Interact Club, and received a Varsity Letter in Track and Field for 2 years.  Jason is presently attending Georgetown University pursuing a degree in English.

2005 Tyrone E. Reese graduated from Rangeview High School in May 2005 with a GPA of 3.97.  Tyrone was an honor roll student throughout his high school career.  Among his many awards, he received the Academic Letter Award, English Department Award, and Student of the Month Award.  He was a member of the National Honor Society and was active in school and community extra-curricular activities such as basketball, Track and Field, school newspaper staff, and volunteered at the Medical Center of Aurora South and Jamaica Elementary School.  Tyrone is presently enrolled at Colorado State University.

 2005 Michael D. Sapp, Jr. graduated from Montbello High School in May 2005 with a GPA of 3.6.  Among Michael’s many accomplishments, he was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars 2003/2004, Head Boy at Montbello High School 2003/2004, Youth Commissioner for Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper 2003-2005, recipient of Who’s Who Among American High School Students Award 2001 – 2004, Intern for Congresswoman Diana DeGette – Safe City Program 2002 plus he was elected as Captain of the Montbello Varsity Baseball & Football programs.  Michael is presently attending Morehouse College.

 2004 Corey S. Scott graduated from George Washington High School in May 2004 with a 3.97 grade point average.  Corey was listed in Who’s Who Among High School Students, was a member of L.I.N.K.S., received the Black Youth Award, served as the senior representative and treasurer of the student government, lettered in basketball for 4 years and was a McDonalds High School All-American Nominee in Basketball.  Corey entered the University of Denver in September 2004 but has subsequently withdrawn from school for personal reasons.

 2003 Jason Crockett graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in May 2003 with a 3.9 grade point average.  Jason was a member of the National Honor Society, elected to Who’s Who Among High School Students for 2 consecutive years and received the Denver Post’s “Top Kid Award” in 2002.  Jason entered Georgetown University in September 2003 and graduated in May 2007 with a degree in Business Administration.

 2002 Zaccaeus D. Boss graduated from East High School in May 2002 with a 3.43 grade point average.  Aside from being an honor student, he was the Varsity Football Captain, a Jack & Jill Beautillion Honoree, member of the Student Council, and President of the Black Student Alliance.  He completed his studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

 2001  Derrick Hendrix graduated from Manual High School in May 2001 with a 3.5 grade point average.  He was a member of the National Honor Society, participated in the “Read to a Child” program, and played varsity football.  He has completed four Community College Courses, namely, Medical Terminology, Emergency Medical Response, Webpage Design, and Webpage Composition.  He has completed his studies at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

 2000 Brandon Eubanks graduated from Rangeview High School in May 2000.  He earned a grade point average of 3.58 on a 4.0 scale.  He was a member of the National Honor Society and listed in Who’s Who among High School Academics.  He has completed studies at Colorado State University earning a degree in Marketing and Communications.

 1999 Theo Wilson graduated from George Washington High School in May 1999 with a grade point average of 3.7.  He has completed studies at Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Florida.

 1998Anthony M. Farmer graduated from George Washington High School in May 1998 with a grade point average of 3.42.  He entered Regis in September 1998.  He subsequently transferred to Colorado College, Colorado Springs and was graduated in December 2002.

 1998 Christopher C. Cason graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in May 1998 with a 3.7 GPA.  He entered Texas A&M University in September 1998 and graduated in May 2003. 

 1997 Tel-Cary Sadler graduated from East High School in May 1997 with a 4.3 grade point average.  He attended the University of California at Berkeley where he earned a degree in Political Science.

 1997 Benjamin Okeke graduated from Montbello High School in May 1997 with a 4.21 grade point average.  He attended Northwestern University where he earned a degree in Economics in May 2001.  He is currently attending the Northwestern University Business Graduate School.

 1996 Marcus D. Farmer graduated from George Washington High School in May 1996 with a 3.9 grade point average.  Marcus entered the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado in September 1996 where he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering in May 2000.
